Thomas Hayday PhD

Co-founder & Chief Research Officer

With nearly two decades of experience in high-dimensional flow cytometry, Tom specialises in the engineering and deployment of scalable platforms designed to map the human immune system with unprecedented resolution.

Tom’s career is rooted in the technical and operational leadership of world-class facilities, notably leading Flow Cytometry Facility within the Department of Immunology at King’s College London. Tom attained his PhD applying super-resolution microscopy and flow cytometry at KCL’s Randall Centre for Cell & Molecular Biophysics.

The transition from academic research to industrial application was accelerated during the COVID-19 pandemic. By applying high-resolution, scalable cytometry tools to track immune responses in real-time, the clinical and translational potential of deep immunophenotyping was fully realised. This work provided the technical and conceptual blueprint for IMU Biosciences, moving beyond traditional analysis to create a large-scale mapping of the immune system for precision medicine.
